Best option for 55.2 with crappy one piece window conversions

So I bought this 55 second series a little bit ago and it came with the very crappy fitting Brother trucks one piece window kit. The PO installed this kit as an alternative to replacing broken glass and it is just terrible. The windows are so poorly shaped that the seals around the frame don’t contact all of the perimeter of the window and the poorly made Bottom seals cause binding with the window movement. Sorry if I didn’t use the proper nomenclature. I have none of the stock wing window parts and the kit modified the door to remove some of the wing window mount. Looking for recommendations for improving what I have or converting back to a wing window.

Probably the first step is to see if you can get your hands on the Brother's instructions on installing that kit and see if the P/O screwed up somewhere or took a short cut somewhere.

Other than that I don't think that there is any modification to put them in the doors that can't be reversed to put the stock glass and wing windows back in.

77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

The mount for the wing window just a little behind and under about where the wing window handle is completely cut out, also a bracket that has the window stop attached to it inside the door about where the center reinforcement brace is, is also removed.

So yes it can be reversed, just a little bit of a pain to get into to weld.

Re: Best option for 55.2 with crappy one piece window conversions

Brothers site is no help as far as instructions are concerned.

I did find a series of videos where some guys install one piece windows in TF doors but think that they just used the glass and off the shelf parts along with several mods.

This might help you figure things out better though https://www.hotrod.com/articles/1956...power-windows/

Many year ago they sold these Kits.
They were only one or two sources
they were not spot on fitment But we made them work to the best or our ability.
....They've came along way
Now many company's are Making these Kit some good some bad.

I believe the kits of today Fit and finish
are Superior in all aspects from The name brand companies...
Because of the competition & their Reputation demands it.!
............These days we have choices...
You can get Good quality or Cheep price But you can't get both

Wow thanks for the information. I guess the search function could have been my friend. I think I’ll try some better fitting U Channels per that old thread.

Glass shops buy the glass channel in bulk lengths from their suppliers if you can find a local shop that will sell you the channel. That beats paying shipping for two sections of it.
Don't go to the new quickie slickie slap your windshield in in the parking lot outfit though go to an old established glass shop that has been in the same spot for several decades.

I tried that before I found what worked for me, Every place I went to that thought they could get something that would work wanted me to pay first, but I made them write on the receipt that the money was 100% refundable if it didn't measure out properly. no glass shop in the Olympia, WA area could get anything that would work.
