1FastGrandpa’s Fireball C-10
This truck started as a mild performance build. It has a 5-7 drop. The small block was not cutting the mustard, so I pulled it out and swapped in a 650hp BBC. Then I had to rebuild the transmission. It now has a turbo 400 with a 4500 stall converter. Then I couldn’t get it to hook up at all. So once again I am changing. It now has a 15” engine setback, 12 pt. Cage, all custom interior, and many other small modifications. I have been working on the latest changes for 2 years in my garage, when I can get some spare time. I hope to have it completed for kool April nites, a large car show and cruise here in Northern California. I will have to hustle but I’ll be sure to have it finished for C-10 Intervention in September. The photo is prior to the 15” engine setback.

That's funny, because that is the exact reason I am building this truck, so I can take my grandson to go get ice cream. We will be able to get there real quick and safely.lol....

But seriously, I just wanted a unique square body, and to get some of that hp to the ground. It’s no fun just spinning the tires all the time... “spinning ain’t wining”, as Monza would say.

I still have to mount the quick release steering wheel and column, wrap the dash in carbon fiber, build the door panels, mount the seats, refabricate the exhaust,reinstall the front fenders and hood, and misc. plumbing issues.

Looks like a great start there.
What size meats do you plan to run in the back? A 295 drag radial is just not going to cut it anymore. |

I used to have about a 650hp 540ci big block, and the 295/50/15 drag radials were not enough to keep the tires planted. I had a th400 with a 2500 rpm stall, and 2.73 gears. When I hammered the throttle it would just spin the tires like nothing with no brake standing. Even at the track it was burn out machine on a prepped track.
My car was a 72 Nova, and about a 1000 pounds less then what you'll end up at. When I drove it hard I had to roll into the throttle to keep the tires in check. |

I would try cal-tracs but I need the extra room for tires , so that’s why I’m going with truck arms. Hot Rods to Hell make some capable of hooking 2500+ hp. I used to work for them. They do all the suspension for Farmtruck.

I would try the Cal tracks to get them to fit if I could. To me they plant the tires much better.
The truck arms work better with no traction aids since they do not bind up the springs. Since the truck arms act like large traction bars at that point. |
