Frame Vin
Is there any way to tell the whole vin from just a frame? I traded an old engine for supposedly a 65 c10 parts truck but onky have the frame. The vin on the frame starts with 5 but I'm wondering if it's a C20.
Had a hard time searching for this on the forum, my apologies if it's been answered already. Thanks!

Re: Frame Vin
It's a long box, believe it was a fleet side. Took a few pics of the frame since I was comparing the suspension.
(Can only seem to upload one on my phone)

Re: Frame Vin
It is most likely a GMC frame because of the leaf springs but GMC's did not have vins on the frame.

Re: Frame Vin
Any difference in the frame design? They look about the same though I haven't measured them yet though.

Re: Frame Vin
The '63-'66 chevy and '63-'66 GMC frames are basically the same and are interchangeable. The main difference is the leaf springs on the GMC. That and the lack of a VIN on the frame as Classic v6 GMC's said.

Re: Frame Vin
It definitely has a frame stamp so I'm going to assume its a 65 chevy frame with gmc suspension

Re: Frame Vin
If I'm not mistaken, don't the k10s have leaf springs. Mine 1964 chevy k10 has leaf springs on the rear. so yours may be a 4x4

Re: Frame Vin
Heavy Duty suspension option on a Chevy was leaf springs.

Re: Frame Vin
My 65 Chev C20 has leaf springs on it.
However I don't believe that it has that red bar from frame to springs above the axel. Do GMC's have that red Bar ? |

Re: Frame Vin
"Do GMC's have that red Bar ? " NO that is an add-on torque bar
also from OP.... yes it was a step side from what can be seen of the rear bumper And yes K10s had leafs front and rear (we cant see the front here) But the rear spring hangers are NOT low enough to be 4X4 |
