rear brake line diameter

I need to replace my rear brake line from the m/c to the rear axle. My shop manual shows its a 3/16" line.
Now the question - is that inside or outside diameter???

Re: rear brake line diameter

Dont forget...if you need to cut the line to fit it takes a double flare...takes a special toll to do this...

The other day i needed a brake line union to finish up my truck....the guy at o'Reilly tried to sell me a compression coupling for copper tube...we had a loud arguement about it....moral is use only the right stuff...and I just added it to my summit order...and got the right parts...

Re: rear brake line diameter

thanks for the reminder. ive flared many lines and have the correct tools.
seems like too many parts counter people don't have a clue.
when you find a good one, use them.

I believe in most states it is illegal to use compression fittings on brake lines.

Tubing is referenced outside diameter and pipe is inside diameter. ! 1/2" tubing will fit inside 1 1/2" pipe.
