14 bolt swap?

I have a 1988 K10 Suburban that I'm swapping 3/4 ton axles into, the front I know will be plug and play, but the back will need at a minimum, a conversion U joint, does anyone know if I will be able to use my stock driveshaft, or have it shortened? the truck is stock, without a lift.

For the front all you have to do is swap the rotors and backing plates, that is unless, there is a ratio difference. And the rear shaft will need to be taken to the d-line shop and reworked

you think if I were to install a 4" lift I would still need the rear driveshaft shortened?

It all depends.....perhaps. The length of the 14 bolt yoke distance is longer, compared to the 10 bolt. Going up in height will increase this distance and you may be OK. At the end of the day, you'll just have to try it out and see how much slip you have at the t-case.

Theoretically, you are going in the right direction but say it will fit without modification....hard to say. Each truck is a little unique.

I would suggest getting all new u-joints regardless, and Spicers is all I use. If you have a driveline shop do it, they might just check the balance too while installing. My shop gave me free install, if I bought new u-joints from them. A little more expensive than on-line, but then again, I was getting a local shop do the work and a bonus, balancing the shaft too.

I just did my 3/4 ton Yukon XL driveline ujoints. Pretty easy, you'd think but after removing the factory u-joints, the new ones threw the balance off. They re-balanced a few times, free of charge because they installed. 1410 non-greasable joints I used.

I've been collecting parts for my Suburban 1/2 to 1 ton swap. In my notes I have "10 bolt to 14 bolt conversion joint Moog Precision #447." Fits your original driveshaft and the 14 bolt. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mog-447 It's available through Amazon /NAPA, etc. too.
