CPP vs Captain's Power Steering Adapter Plate.
I've been seeing threads/posts of those who used the CPP Adapter Plate and wondered why their plate always mounts the box out of tilt.

Just a heads up to all, do not turn this into a vendor bashing thread.
Post up questions or useful info. Thanks all.

Re: CPP vs Captain's Power Steering Adapter Plate.
Yes, my intent here is to show the advantages and/or disadvantages of one over the other.
I'll be posting more pics, but I see why CPP made their plate the way they did. They did it to simplify the alignment process. By using two of the existing holes, they prevent user errors. And as mentioned in the thread I linked above, the Rag joint takes up the variance.

Re: CPP vs Captain's Power Steering Adapter Plate.
Here is a pic of my frame marking the two different hole locations for the power steering box.
The circled holes are the two existing holes that CPP uses to locate where the plate goes. The little hole starters where I've marked with an asterisks is where the holes actually need to be located for the box to align with the steering shaft straight on.

Re: CPP vs Captain's Power Steering Adapter Plate.
When I did mine ( that's mine in the first picture) no one but CPP had anything for he 60-62 frames. Rez made one that required some modification for it to work on the 60-62. More work then I wanted to do.
To answer your question I believe CPP did it that way ,as you mentioned, for ease of install with tools that the average Joe would have. ( no welding) I have had zero problems with the install and none it since installing it. Captain fab makes outstanding products and if this was available back when I did mine I would have purchased it from him, not that the CPP one is bad. I just like the fact that the Captain is hands on. Hope this helps

Re: CPP vs Captain's Power Steering Adapter Plate.
I finally got my power steering box mounted.
CPP goes the easy route by using two of the existing holes. I mounted mine keeping the steering shaft and pitman shaft aligned. But it's a total pain in the butt to do it that way on the 60-62 frames. . So, if you have the 63-66 frame, I recommend using Captainfab's plate. But for the 60-62 frames, I recommend using the CPP kit. Only because they did it in such a way to make the install with the least amount of hassle. What little it's off with alignment, can be taken up with the rag joint.

Re: CPP vs Captain's Power Steering Adapter Plate.
Is Captain Fabs a bolt on as well or do you need to mod the top of the frame and cut it?

Re: CPP vs Captain's Power Steering Adapter Plate.
Are you working on a 60-62 or a 63-66?

Re: CPP vs Captain's Power Steering Adapter Plate.
It has been pointed out to me that Captainfab now has an adapter plate for the 60-62 trucks.
Sorry for my misinformation.
