Re: Want to trade: Cruise control, complete, 1968
I worked on this a little today...
The cruise switch operates as it should and the wiring harness operates as it should. I cleaned and lubed the transducer gears. It looks clean inside and the solenoid operates properly along with the low speed cutoff switch. I believe this is a working system. |

This system was used on 1967 trucks as well as 1968.

Yes cruise was offered from 1967-71. It was dropped as an option in 1972, which is why GM offered it as kit over the parts counter.

Re: Want to trade: Cruise control, complete, 1968
Learn sumfin new every day! Almost 14 years here and I always thought CC started in 1969 for our trucks! Of the 67-68 trucks I've seen with cruise I assumed it was some sort of JC Whitney or Audiovox aftermarket stuff.

Re: Want to trade: Cruise control, complete, 1968
I have tested the system and it is in excellent working condition....
I installed this in my Cummins powered crew cab, I made a bracket to mount the 68 vacuum pod which pulls a cable hooked to the throttle arm. It works perfect. Im using a 73 cruise master dash mounted switch but I also tested the chrome turn signal switch and it works too! I bead blasted and painted all components. I disassembled the transducer then bead blasted the houisng and cleaned and lubed the gearbox, it was super clean inside and in excellent condition, the low speed cutout switch operates as it should. The brake light cutout switch works as well as the brake pedal vacuum dump switch. |

I know this is a for sale thread but I just wanted to say what a great job you did cleaning this up and testing it to make sure everything worked! Did you take a bunch of pictures for a how to thread? I have a 71 set up that I would like to do the same thing to.
