Re: power steering conversion question?

Thanks for all the reply's and help:}
I was able to get the belt to line up with some shimming...but now there is one more obstacle! My water pump pulley and crank pulley are so close together i can't get the PS belt on. Is the easiest route taking off the water pump pulley to get the belt on? I'm talking about 1/16 of and inch between the two.

Re: power steering conversion question?

I believe i found the problem? The WP pulley is the same size 7" across as my crank pulley. I believe the short water pump pulley should be 6.25" across? Is this correct??

Re: power steering conversion question?

My WP pulley was 7" and I replaced it with a 6.33" diameter, That allowed extra belt clearance. The flow might increase slightly but I have noted no difference. Additionally my main crank had a dual pulley but the rear grove did not align with anything, so i installed a bolt on third pulley that bolts to the face of the original crank

This is how close my wp pulley was to crank, pictures here

I can get some pics for you when i get home if you'd like

Re: power steering conversion question?

My 69 with Ac and Ps water pump pulley is under 6 inches and a triple pulley
it should work fine enough to give your belt space

Re: power steering conversion question?

OK...thanks, I'll order a new WP pulley smaller then the 7.1 inch one on there now. Now i'm wondering if the WP pulley was wrong...is the crank pulley correct? I measured across the crank pulley and it's 6.75 Inches...is that correct for a original 69 307 engine??
