Re: Starter bolt
I believe they are 3/8-16 bolts. the standard size for the long bolt is approx 4 5/8 long and the short is 1 7/8 long. I think there may have been a 3 5/8 bolt on some starters. you can probably find these at your local Parts House typically in the "Help" section.
Have you measured the height of the Starter Mount? |

Re: Starter bolt
Starter bolts are special bolts with knurled raised areas just above the threded sections to align the starter correctly.....
See : https://www.jegs.com/i/Dorman-Produc...45640/10002/-1 Also make sure the support strap is in place on other end of starter See" https://www.jegs.com/i/RESTOPARTS/759/CH26413/10002/-1

Re: Starter bolt
Post a pic of the starter pls....I m assuming you have the standard Chevy type....
the bolts may appear too long but the serrations need to go into the engine block and then the threads ..... the serrations should be level with the starter body ...post pic of starter with bolts inserted and showing thru block side mount area....

Re: Starter bolt
When I switched to a mini gear reduction style it came with the proper bolts, dropped right in with no issues at all. Sounds terrible but spins the 350 over like no buddy’s business.
