Oil filter question?
Hey all I have a question about oil filter fitment so figured I would ask. I am swapping in a 350 from a 88 into my 87. The 88 has a oil cooler setup on it which points the oil filter out sideways. Does any one know if I will have frame/header fitment problems with this setup? Am I going to have to convert it to non oil cooler version? I would really like to keep the setup. Thanks

Re: Oil filter question?
he has a 4wd 88-98 body style engine with the pointed oil cooler adapter .
there just a bolt on unit like the older ones for the square body 73-87 . unless your doing lots of hard core crazy work i would prob skip the cooler unit and pull the 2 bolts and swap over the std adapter and spin on a reg filter and be done .

Re: Oil filter question?
I can get a pic later today. I want to keep the cooler intact. Is there another version with a cooler and a vertical filter?

Quote:
The 88+ trucks had the oil cooler inside the left tank in the radiator. I’m not sure how you would pull that off on a older truck. The lines leak all of the time. Ive personally seen 2 that the line just broke on(bye bye engine) I’ve deleted lots of them. That being said, my 99 and my 96 still have oil coolers, but I tow/haul frequently. |

Re: Oil filter question?
The truck was originally a 6.2 so has oil cooler lines already in the big radiator. I'm not worried about leaking as the truck the motor came out if I never had a problem with.
