Rear Brake sticking- Left side
1972 C20 with 12" x 2 1/2" shoes. I replaced pretty much everything(springs, adjuster wheels, etc) Problem is that after I put everything back together and adjusted the brakes. The left side started sticking on so bad I can't even turn the wheel by hand. It seems they are self adjusting farther than they should. I have readjusted it again, but I am racking my brain trying to figure out what the heck. The right side is fine, just an issue with the left side. When I am done driving it I do back it up into the driveway.
Any ideas as to what would be causing the Left side brakes to stick on? Thanks in advance. |

Re: Rear Brake sticking- Left side
My best guess would be that the adjuster is backwards and it just getting tighter and tighter going forward when they usually adjust backing up.

Re: Rear Brake sticking- Left side
Thats what I thought too, but not sure why the Right side is not being affected. I guess it is possible to have a wrong part. Thought I checked its rotation for correct direction before installing it. But I could have messed that up.

Re: Rear Brake sticking- Left side
*** UPDATE ***
After checking all my work. The star wheel and all springs have been installed correctly. I ended up replacing the shoes with Wagner instead of Bosch. Its working like its supposed to now. |
