S10 Transmission Question

So I have a 1965 longbed with a 327 in it. It already has a 3 on the floor but the shifter is to close the seat. I'm wanting to put a s10 transmission in it. What all do I need to put one in my truck besides the transmission its self. Thanks for any info.

The real reason it's a good idea is because it's a 5-speed trans with overdrive - and the S10 variant of the T5 has the stick in the right place to clear a bench seat. Low highway rpm is the benefit. It's light duty, but is fine behind a small V8 as long as not abused. There a few "world class" S10 transmission out there, but not many - WC is slightly beefier. The best combo is a Camaro main case with an S10 tailshaft - avoids the spacing required with an S10 input shaft yet has stick correctly located.

Just about any trans GM ever made will fit behind your 327.

Re: S10 Transmission Question

The previous owner that I bought my 62 SWB from installed a World Class Camaro T-5 with an S-10 tail housing.

It is an outstanding combo and I really like it. It fits like it was made for the truck, shifts like butter...cant beat it.

I just installed a brand new crate 350 motor but have no intentions of driving it hard, so trans should last a good long time (knock on wood).

If I ever win the lottery or get the desire to do burnouts I may upgrade to a different trans at a later date, but for now I'm plenty thankful for the trouble the previous owner went to on my truck.
