started working my stepside
This is a long step that I'm going to put on my 70 GMC. I cut the wood and started fitting everything together so I can weld the angles on to the bedsides. Then I'll tear it apart and paint all the pieces and weather proof the wood with a marine finish.

Have not decided. The bed is going to be white or olive. The marine coating I have does not have any pigment to it. I might stain it "black" then coat it. That's still up in the air.

That sounds like a good idea. IF & when i ever do a wood bed, im going with black. I saw one one time that was black with ss trim, looked real sharp. Plus i know myself, i'd hate to scratch up a nice stain job. You sound like me with the paint color for your truck. I love trucks that look like your white & green ones, they look like they can go thru anything, & your not afraid to drive them. On the other hand(thats a randy travis song) a nice clean paint job looks good too. I'm just stummped on the color i want. Im thinking some shade of green. I dont think i'll ever make up my mind till i have to lol.

Looks awesome I want to do the same thing with my 76 short step. Does anyone know where I can find the mesuremets for the wood peices? I was a journeyman cabinet builder so milling the wood is no prob. I am looking for the measurements so I can mill it all up before I tear the bed apart.
Thanks for any info u can give me |

I think they are the same. The only difference is the fenders. Do you have any wood left in your bed?
