One ton identification
Hey Guys,
I don’t know that much about anything bigger than half ton trucks. I picked this thing up recently but I’m not completely sure on the year. I assumed it was 63 due to the grill but it’s torsion bar suspension. Were coil springs only in 1/2 tons for 63? Posted via Mobile Device Last edited by burlapen; 10-21-2019 at 09:00 PM. |

Re: One ton identification
vin number will give you most info. If I remember right that should be a late 62 or 63.

Re: One ton identification
The grille is a '64-5-6. The emblems on the cowl corners say it is a '62 as does the wrap around windshield. The '60-'62 (Apache)C10-20 & 30's had torsion bar front suspensions. 1963 was the first year for the new coil spring front suspension as well as the new designed frame. I would say that you have a 1962 C30. I agree that the VIN will tell you the year, the GVW rating and the wheelbase.

Re: One ton identification
Ah...that makes sense. Per the first digit of the VIN it’s a 62. I was getting confused because the 4th and 5th position of the vin happen to be 63. Couldn’t remember which vin position was year on the oldies. Now....what to do with this monster. The flatbed is super long. Probably too light duty for a ramp truck though.
