Inside Spare Tire Carrier
Another style of spare tire carrier. It is a factory edge on top. Not the more common style cut flat. $200 plus shipping.
Now $150 plus shipping! Last edited by 72 Blazer CST; 10-13-2019 at 08:48 PM. |

Re: Inside Spare Tire Carrier
This is doubtfully an oem spare tire carrier from a 69-72 K5.

Re: Inside Spare Tire Carrier
Yeah this one's interesting. While I would tend to agree with you the very small amount of information I have been able to find lends itself to both options. I do know that the gentleman whos collection it came from had been a collector of only 67-72 parts for 40 plus years. Knowing him and his collection I would have a hard time believing he went and pulled it from something else. So the mystery continues! I do know it would absolutely work. Thanks for chiming in.

Re: Inside Spare Tire Carrier
The most logical explanation for these two different spare tire carriers is that they were engineering prototypes used in development by GM.
The bases are the same. The differences are in the top part. Don't have the rounded top, no slot. They realized they needed to go to a slot to accommodate different tire sizes. The tops on these two units look basic. So they went to the taller rounded top piece for a better appearance when no tire is installed. |

Re: Inside Spare Tire Carrier
This style may be the behind the drivers seat option is my guess. When you did not order a rear seat, this type is what was used?

Re: Inside Spare Tire Carrier
Unbelievably, there is the more typical one listed on EBay for a buy it now price of $750— around $300-400 above market in my view.
