Need a brake booster for my 67
Anyone else here get the wrong booster sold to them? I am trying to replace my manual brake master cyl. with a vacuum booster assembly from Advance autoparts. It wouldn't fit,Wrong bolt pattern and rod too short to connect to pedal Took it back and went to Autozone...they show the same part! Cardone #50-3715
Now if you go to early classic enterprises, they have a pic of the one I think I need on page #15 of their catalog...PN# 03-6372pb for $249.00 Is there another source? thanks, Bill |

You don't say whether your truck is a 1/2 or 3/4 ton. There is a difference between the 2 boosters, have them check it again for the correct unit.
Original GM Part # 3970502...........Bendix 2508396 1/2 ton # 3970503...........Bendix 2506422 3/4 ton Hope this helps (info from the parts interchange manual)

It is a 1/2 ton C10
It came originally with a V8 and 3 sp. manual trans. It now has a 350CI and 350 turbo trans.
After much searching it appears the booster MIGHT have fit if I had the proper mount to attach it to the firewall and an original pushrod...didn't look real closely to the new one that was short but it didn't appear to disconnect from the new unit...anyone know if this is possible. These folks http://www.classicperform.com/6072FP.html provided a template for drillin my firewall to accept the new booster apparently wihout the extension bracket, but the rod was still too short! I guess I was under the impression that the new unit would bolt right up, but apparently this extended bracket and rod is key.It should resemble this http://www.classicperform.com/produc...er-Booster.htm I guess tomorrow I'll check the auto boneyards to see what I can find. Thanks, Cdowns and #3, I appreciate your help! |

on my 68 C15 I used one from a 80 C10. did some mods & fabrication to booster mount & grafted later pedal arm to original arm. will try to post pics tonight if you want. this method take less room underhood & I think it gives better boost too. JMO

Glad to hear that someone was successful in this swap
Thanks Todd, i'd be real interested to see how you grafted the rod.. i wanted to try that but couldn't figure out how. Say you got pics? That would be a great help.
Thanks, Bill |
