DBW - PCM/TAC/Pedal compatibility
Working on my LQ4 swap into 1971 Blazer. The motor, transmission (4L65e), TAC, and Pedal are all out of the same 2004 Yukon Denali. I have now realized that this is the adjustable pedal that was available in many models. I would like to find a fixed pedal from a similar model truck and use one of Hart Rod's adapters.
Can I do this with my current TAC or will I have to get one that matches the car I got the pedal from. I have read a number of threads where people were unable to get the PCM from a truck with adjustable pedals to work with a fixed pedal. Apparently the range of movement was different. They were unable to program the PCM to account for the change. I never saw any resolution to these issues in the threads I read and they were all pretty old. Any advice? Thanks. |

Re: DBW - PCM/TAC/Pedal compatibility
I don't know about TAC module compatibility, but you can always modify the pedal to work. Mine was the adjustable type, I just took the whole pedal arm off and bent up a rod and attached a pedal to it and it works.

Thanks MDPotter! Do you have any pics of how you modified yours you could send me? Fabrication is a skill I am trying to develop but will give it a shot.
Nevemind. Saw the pictures in your build thread. Looks great! I am going to try and copy what you have done. really appreciate the help. Last edited by C.I.Blazer; 12-24-2019 at 08:46 AM. |

Re: DBW - PCM/TAC/Pedal compatibility
The pedals are interchangeable, but the non adjustable one has more travel when not mounted in the truck it came out of. In a stock application the carpet limits its travle.

Re: DBW - PCM/TAC/Pedal compatibility
Not trying to hack this thread but since were on this subject, hey Nova my swap is from an o6 Taho. I have the all plastic truck style pedal. I’ve never like the looks of it and was wondering what other pedal would work with my swap. Everything works fine as I’ve been rocking it for 8 Years now. Oh by the way that cruise lever I got from you years ago still works great. I love that thing and the way it looks factory to the truck. Thanks.

Re: DBW - PCM/TAC/Pedal compatibility
Thanks Nova! So I can swap the pedal to the non-adjustable one and still use the same TAC? Can the PCM be programmed to deal with the difference in travel? This is what I was reading about. When swapping pedal they had issues with either hitting WOT at 50% travel and/or going into some type of limp mode. Any ideas?
Also, Merry Christmas to all. |

Re: DBW - PCM/TAC/Pedal compatibility
To the best of my knowledge it cant be tuned to fix it because the actual sensor is going through its entire range. What I did was weld in a physical stop so that the pedal stops when it hits the 100% mark, but I have a scanner to be able to tell when that is.
