1966 Original Steering Column - Automatic

Will a 2 spd powerglide column be compatible if swapping to a TH400??
Assuming these are all column shift.

Thanks

The 3 speed was a hydrostatic 3 speed similar to a th400 but iirc not the same, gear selector a lot different.

Re: 1966 Original Steering Column - Automatic

The TH400 was available in the '65 & '66 C20's and C30's. My '66 Suburban still has the original Powerglide column and I am able to shift into 1st gear on my TH400 with no problem. Of course I'm sure the column is worn a bit which I imagine helps the situation some.

I know this is an old thread, but I am hoping to put an automatic c10 colum in my '64 with a th400 I installed. Captain, what linkage are you using? It was mentioned in my WTB post that the c10 auto column will not work with a th400.

I'm not worried if it won't shift into 1st. I only need Drive!

Re: 1966 Original Steering Column - Automatic

I made my own simple linkage. Now you can buy the same style from I believe Lokar and others as well. It is just a bracket on the trans with an adjustable rod up to the lever on the column. I did not use the typical factory bellcrank with the bracket on the frame
