New Stereo

Well, I got the new stereo installed last night. I got a new head unit 6x9's boxed for the rear and 5 1/4 for the doors. I got everything from Bestbuy (which I have always liked) and let them do the install. I had to make an appointment with them for durring the week because the truck was a "custom install" and would need some cutting to get the deck in (the old deck was a cassette with the two nobs). They got the truck at 4:30 and finished about 9:00 last night. With it being late and dark I didn't get a chance to realy check things out but it did sound great. When I got into the truck this mornning I got a good look and am not very happy with the deck...but it does sound good. Now to figure out how to get this thing looking better....any ideas out there?

I am also going to add a bazzoka tube in the next month or so.

if i were you i would pass on the bazooka and just build a box to hold your 6x9's and maybe an 8 inch sub or something.

I guess the biggest thing is that I don't like that opening right above the unit. What part of Austin are you in Ric? Are you planning on checking out Heat Wave?

Speakers on the door are Rockford Fosgate and they ran $99. The total install was about $100.

Yeah, I figured that is what you were refering too. When I got mine installed, I got a plate the fits behind the deck and in front of the dash to make it look like a factory install. I'll see if I can find the pic of it or take one of it for you.

I currently live in east Austin. Right off of down town. I work up north though, right off of Parmer and McNeil. Unfortunatly, I think I may be missing out on the Heat Wave this year. I will be going to Mexico and we will be leaving that Fri. it starts. I have made everyone for the last few years. I am gonna see if I can leave my camcorder w/ my cousin and have him video tape it for me this year.

If you can get a pic of that I would like to see it.

I work off Parmer and Dessau...big glass building.

I don't think I am going to make the show either...wife's family reunion that weekend.

Have you seen any of the racing they have been doing behind that new target on 35 between Parmer and Howard. It used to be a old private air strip. Every weekend there are tons of cars and motorcycles out there burning it up and the cops leave them alone....so far. I have even seen a couple of SCCA orginzed events there.

No kiddin'? I sure haven't heard of that. I might just have to go out there and check it out though.

I will deff. try to get that pic for you. But like gldevall pointed out, your dash pieces do look diff. I'll have to see if it will work or not. If all else fails, I got it at Extreme Sounds. They may have one you can look if you are seriously gonna get one. Either way, I'll tey to get that pic for you this afternoon.

Mounting amps under the seat makes them harder to steal (screw them down) and keeps the out of the way. The smaller amp is just under the drivers seat and runs the 6x9's and tweets. I can reach down and adjust the power level and treble/bass easily. Not the greatest setup, but I put it together fairly cheap and works pretty damn well. I could you some more mid sound though. In thr feature I plan to get the qlogic kick panels and have some mids in there and build a bigger sub box for the bed and have a blow through system.

================================================
Heres a blow through setup for those who dont know.
You mount the sub box in the bed and have a hole in the back of the cab leading into the sub box to carry the sound into the cab.
This way you can have more powerful speakers and the air space they require.

78chevy:
I think the back of your cab looks sweet. The smooth look and 6x9's is very nice! If I ever get to do the blow through setup I would end up doing something like that.
