steering arm nut torque
According to the spec sheet . It appears the steering arm nuts for a 68 k1500 model truck are to be torqued a 135 # can anyone confirm that ?

Which one?? the one at the steering box--the 1-5/16 one or the steering link nut. Pittman arm nut calls for 130-150. steering link 50

They have stretched.115# is way to much and those studs are now unsafe to use..Repeat-This being a steering component they must be replaced for yours and everyones safety.

Also noticed in the picture that steering arm appears to be welded? Sorry to say but If so I would be highly suspect of the safety of that also.

grade 8--7/16 fine thread can torque to 75-80. And yes they should be replaced as they may have been stressed too much

GMC Im just trying to help and concerned for your safety.I do not have a chassis manual to give you the exact torque-hopefully someone that does will chime in to help. But i do know 115# is too much for 7/16 stud thats why it felt like it was stretching when you went to that#.
