How does the wiper motor mount?
Maybe the bracket that the motor mounts to rusted off and should have been welded/glued on, but I am unsure how this things mounts up to the hole in the upper firewall. Its pretty heavy so I thought the bracket would be mounted to the firewall.
I have only seen the 3 screws illustrated in the install manual. |

Re: How does the wiper motor mount?
Show the bracket on the firewall, or where it's supposed to mount.

Re: How does the wiper motor mount?
Years ago in the teardown I removed it and I dont remember having to tug at it to remove it. I had the cab sandblasted and then I cut out the rusted area and welded in a patch I made.

Re: How does the wiper motor mount?
Since then I have recently applied sound deadener and I stopped with the heat insulation in that area since Im not sure how that bracket needs to be mounted to the firewall.

Re: How does the wiper motor mount?
If I were to mount this now (once Ive sandblasted and painted the rusty bracket) is the one bolt on the other side of the firewall supposed to support all that? Im guessing I need to remove the sound deadener in that area and rethink how I need to mount the bracket to the firewall first.

Re: How does the wiper motor mount?
It was spot welded at one time. I would remove the sound deadener and fit up the mount to make sure where you want it. Drill a few 1/4" holes in it and then rosette weld it to the cab plate you made through the holes.

I guess you could also bolt the bracket on if you made sure that the bolts didn't interfere with the motor on the inside. If you used Allen head, button head bolts they would look OK since they will be under the cowl vent. Just line up the hole in the bracket with the hole in the firewall. Like Jimmy said, they were originally spot welded but that would be your call. LockDoc
