LS Radiator Question
I know I know I'm sure this has been asked 1,000 times. Do I really need to have a dual pass radiator for my swap? I was looking at the stock style Aluminum Champion radiator with electric fans.

Re: LS Radiator Question
No you dont need one. I use factory radiators and never have issues.

Re: LS Radiator Question
I used the stock 4 core with my LQ4 and installed Windstar fans, runs very cool and works just fine.

Re: LS Radiator Question
But the dual pass radiator has the inlet and outlet on the passenger side. Makes the hose hook up so much easier. If both radiator hoses go to the right side now you can run the air tube and filter to the left with a clear route.

Re: LS Radiator Question
I used a $160 parts store replacement radiator from my 2006 Yukon donor, including the donor fans. 34 inch core. Fits great. Cheap. I can go into any parts store and get replacement parts including all of the various cooling hoses.
I wouldnt have hesitated to use my factory radiator for the truck, but it was a mostly clogged 6cyl radiator and didn't keep the 350 that was in the truck before cool at stop lights. |
