removing the clutch petal
I'm changing over to automatic trans, new auto column and now I needed to remove the clutch pedal. It looked pretty straight forward; pulled carter key, removed nut and arm and the clutch and shaft just slipped out and off. But, now I'm concerned that the brake pedal might have needed that shaft to support it. I don't know if the brake pedal is independent and stand alone or if the shaft for the clutch pedal was part of the support system.
Can you guys tell me if I need to cut off the clutch pedal from the solid shaft and replace the shaft or if the brake pedal doesn't need this support. I don't think I've read about anyone removing the clutch pedal alto' I'm sure some one has been in my place and removed the clutch pedal. I just need your thoughts and hands on experiences...Thanks!! |

Re: removing the clutch petal
The brake pedal is supported by the sleeve you pulled the clutch pedal out of. Rh side of pedal bracket you can see a small bolt on a tab that retains the sleeve.

Re: removing the clutch petal
Thank you for that break down. Now it makes sense that the brake pedal is independent of the clutch pedal. Is the brake pedal in need of the support? do I need to cut off the clutch pedal and replace the shaft for support?
