WIW: 77-80 door panels.
Hi guys, posted this on the WIW page, but hope its ok to post it here as well? Just wondering what these 77-80 door panels are worth roughly? They're NOS, original GM from 1978, never been installed. But have been painted brown over the original blue (not sure if the painting takes away their NOS status?). Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

Re: WIW: 77-80 door panels.
Same. I've seen and done this. Sold a nice pair from a 79 for $50 for the pair, and I have sold a similar pair out of a 81 for $300.... I suppose it really depends if you are looking to make some money or just get rid of them. Personally, I would hang on to them. If they were new in box NOS, then they would be a pretty penny I bet.

Re: WIW: 77-80 door panels.
Once painted, they aren't NOS anymore and the value drops unfortunately. Door panels seem to range in price and demand quite a bit, one of the harder parts to get a stable value on.

Re: WIW: 77-80 door panels.
id offer you between $50-75 for them as they are not NOS they are painted and show signs of wear. Not trying to be an ass but its what i perceive to be fair market value

Re: WIW: 77-80 door panels.
Please understand that NOS means New Old Stock. So to be called NOS they would have to be new, never used or installed (or painted) and better is they still had the original box or labels on them.
NOS is parts that were stocked either at a dealer or some other parts supplier, but were never sold. NOS must be original GM (or other, Ford, etc.) parts, not aftermarket. I do not seek to embarrass or to make you look bad. I only seek to educate. Hard core restorers look for real NOS parts to replace bad parts. They have very high standards and this is why true NOS parts carry a high value, much higher sometimes that near perfect used or aftermarket even if you can't see the difference. Hope this helps you understand what NOS is more clearly. |

Re: WIW: 77-80 door panels.
Thanks again guys for all the info, i appreciate it. Good to know that adding something, like paint, to NOS parts takes away their NOS status.
