Re: Identifing a 60 model

That looks like a '63-'66 frame with some very poor welds holding some '60-'62 frame horns onto the front. And the radiator crossmember is mangled. I do not recognize the stamping on the top of the frame. It does not look typical to me.

Re: Identifing a 60 model

I definitely agree on the poor welds on the frame horns and the mangled crossmember , I am adding a pic of inside the pass side frame horn for a little clearer view of the mod there . Captainfab , educate me here , what identifies this chassis as a 63-66 frame vs it being a 67 to say 70 frame ? Not saying that it is a 67-70 , just trying to learn the identifing components of one over the other . As far as the stamping on the frame between the motor mount and the steering box , info that I've read indicates that this would be the assembly plant (A) and the numbers (xxxxx) being the last 5 or 6 numbers of the vin . And IF I'm not mistaken , this applied to 67-72 trucks .

Re: Identifing a 60 model

The 2 things I see that identify the frame as a '63-'66 is the radiator crossmember, which looks to still have a rivet on the bottom passenger side. The '67-'72 does not have that crossmember and what little bit of the idler arm I can see looks like a '63-'66 component. The number is the only thing that doesn't look right. There should be a number before the letter A. Better pics are needed for a more positive identification.

Re: Identifing a 60 model

Thank you , I'll clean the area where the stamping is better and see if there is anything else .
