And from what I read this weekend, we're about to have even less choices about how our mail and parcels are delivered if the new "administration" gets it's way with USPS. I'll stop there..

Still chilly here in west central MN at 15 degrees today but next week in the 40's. Sadly we are going see folks in shorts next week with really white legs. LOL.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
I was outside in a T shirt all day sorting through one of my sheds . I have too many stashes of 67-72 parts scattered around . I'm finding stuff I forgot I had and finding things I wondered why I'm keeping. I was looking for parts for my newest project . I've found some of what I know I need, but am still looking for some. I need to get things organized and get stuff put back where it belongs. I'm really bad about working 'til it's time go in and just stick things inside the door of a shed. Of coarse cold weather doesn't help high 60's Today and Tomorrow then back with a high of 41 on Wednesday.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Always something yesterday my Frontier lost power CEL and traction control light came on . Pulled the code it’s the left bank cam sensor . Seems the traction control light comes on with it too as far as I can tell from searching the net . Ordered both from Rockauto they were 20$ cheaper on each one over other sites I bought Hitachi brand . Should be here tomorrow or Thursday. It was easier than I expected to get the right side one out hopefully the left will be also .

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Put the final touches on our Federal & State taxes and E-filed using TurboTax again this year. Investments made a little more so we're paying instead of getting refunds. It's all good.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
The wife has been using turbo tax for year with no issues. However she filed ours last weekend only to be rejected 4 times. If the fed rejects, so does state. She re-entered the same info all 4 times and it was finally accepted.
One of my kid's coworkers had trouble and finally resorted to calling them. It took many calls to get connected to anyone and when he did they kept telling him they could not hear him. He tried using his friend's phone only to get the same thing. I know it's the busiest time for them but we may need to search out another option next year.

I do my own taxes. I used to use Turbo Tax and switched over to H&R Block a few years ago. I have been happy with it so far. I never do mine until the end of March. I filed mine early one year then some changes came through on an update and I had to file an amended return. Don't want to do that again.... .

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
I used to do our taxes up until I commuted to work and spent months at a time away from home for my job. The wife paid the bills and started doing the taxes. After I retired, we have invested my 401(k) and pension lump sum, and other items. We have a CPA doing it now, and doing it well. We live on Social Security and a bit of mandatory distribution money. I have people who manage the investments, as well. They know the industry, and I don't.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Initially I used to do our taxes years ago as it was just me working, wife stayed home with the boys. After we became empty nesters I still did our own taxes up to the point I retired. Decided then with our S/S income and investments I knew just enough to be dangerous with tax laws and allowances constantly being revised. Have a local CPA do our taxes now and pay for his expertise and know how which is much more than mine. He files them electronically, a one and done stop in and visit. Works well for us.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
We've had some pretty crappy weather here for awhile. The driveway and cars were covered with dirt and pine needles. But we are finally getting some decent weather.
I shuffled the vehicles around and blew off the driveway. Next I washed the cars and trucks. The little Fiat stays in the garage, washed it and put it away. My wife's Honda usually stays in there too but we have a family members stuff stored on her side right now so its in the driveway with the two trucks. Took awhile to get winter washed off all the vehicles. But I was pretty happy to have all the shiny stuff in the driveway. Couple hours later my wife and I were sitting on our front porch and hear a loud vehicle coming around the corner. It was the street sweeper. Usually I love having them come by but today he was stirring up a huge cloud of dust. Coated my vehicles ... tomorrow Ill be washing them again. At least it will go quicker this time.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Went fishing with my kid. Didn't catch a thing but it was nice to be out there. Started out at 38* and rose to 70 and the wind blowed hard most of the day. Cold front moving in tomorrow.
Finished off today with a nice bbq rib dinner. Nap time. ![]()

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Monday evening, I left home at 4pm and drove overnight to Mannford, OK. After a 3 hour nap in Iola, KS, I was at the location to look at and purchase a 1969 C10 at 8:45am. After a bit of negotiating because it has a couple rust issues I wasn't informed of, I loaded it up and was ready to make the return run at 10:20am. I texted my wife and she said "hurry home, forecast is for a blizzard starting tonight and they keep making it sound worse all the time". Great ! I had looked at the weather forecast for Mannford, but not along the route back or at home. I had planned to get north of KC before afternoon rush and then hole up for a few hours and rest. Needless to say, that didn't happen. I stopped in Kearney, MO just long enough to grab a fast food meal for the first time that day, filled the tank and was off again. Long story short, I drove in rain and then high winds and got about 40 miles from the MN state line with IA when I found the snow and the roads turned slick. Great only another 165 miles to home in this crap. Anyway, I made it, even though all the plows along my route across country from Faribault MN, going North East to River Falls, WI had been called in around 11pm because they couldn't keep up with the blowing and drifting. Yep, about the only fool out there, cutting ruts thru snow deep enough for the plow mount to push it and pile up on the bumper. Yes, I have a plow for this truck and I wasn't going to be able to get up my driveway to attach it...
First pic is loaded up in Mannford and second is my driveway. It runs back at about 120 degrees from the road and has about 4% grade. I got the truck and trailer far enough up to be out of the way for the plow and neighbors vehicle, since the entrance is shared, at 1am Wednesday and called it good. Driveway is 180 ft long and it took a while with our little 24" snow thrower to clear a path to get to the top, but it's all good now and with 50 degree temps this weekend, most of the 8" of snow that we got will be greatly reduced or gone, just like nothing happened... ![]() |

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
What length and weight rating is that trailer? Brand? I plan on getting a 20ft 10k lb trailer, if I ever get the time to drive 4 hour to the dealer to go get it and 4 hours back .

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
I have an overhead TV cable that goes through my detached garage and down to my cabin, so I only had internet in the cabin and only had a DVD player for the TV in the garage.
That got old only being able to watch DVD's in the garage and they were a distraction while trying to work on my truck too. So rather than paying for seperate internet service to the garage or routing some line back to the garage from the cabin, I split the cable at the garage, packaged the modem and router together and now I physically move them and attach them to the cables with slip-on fittings. There might be another easier method but I have internet, YouTube, and Amazon Music in the garage now so I'm good. ![]() Last edited by BRL; 03-06-2025 at 12:25 PM. |

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Swapped out the wheels finally on the 61 Impala yesterday. Ordered whitewalls a month ago and they showed up. Painted the steel wheels a month ago. Now I have a couple different hubcap options so spending a few days to think those over before slapping something on.

Moons and, maybe, trim rings. Don't want to cover those purdy wheels completely.
