That looks awesome! Beats drilling holes if truck did not come stock with moldings.

Re: Adding body side molding from Mar-K
Rather than start another thread......
I have a Short Fleetside which needs all the side trim to be replaced when I do the body and paint. I was wondering if there are distinct knowledge, or experience about who makes the best quality side trim. I seem to recall there was trim that would damage or dent when being fitted. All advice and opinions appreciated.

Hi mate Thanks for the reply. You made me laugh here in Starbucks where I am having a coffee and sandwich before going out to work again. I have stuff in boxes too that is unopened. Do you have a link for Mar-K as I Googled but could not find them. Whooooops !! Edit. Just seen you did say Mark-K and I Googled Mar-K so back to Google.

Re: Adding body side molding from Mar-K
Reviving the thread with a question.
Will the 67-69 trim fit the 70 body? It looks like it would, but wondering if anyone on the site has actually tried it. Thank you, Phil |

The moulding looks great against the orange paint! Big difference...really breaks it up like you said.

Re: Adding body side molding from Mar-K
newfisher, where at in Oregon are you? im going to purchase the same trim eventually and may need to look at yours for reference
heres my 64 shorty that really needs something to break up the single color paint, was actually thinking about putting the red inside the trim for a break of color, not sure yet tho

Re: Adding body side molding from Mar-K
Great write up Newfisher! I plan on doing the same to my 65 very soon. Only difference will be I plan to put a strip of white vinyl stripe between the moldings where it should be painted. I'll put the stripe on first, slightly wider to fit under the molding. I thought doing the vinyl stripe would be simpler than trying to get the painter to do the stripe. Just waiting for the box to be painted and installed but I'll post picks when done.

Re: Adding body side molding from Mar-K
Great write up! I'm tackling this job this weekend. I also have white vinyl decal to go between the trims. One thing I'm wondering is how did you go about doing the front spear?

Subscribed. Have a longbed no trim but want to put trim on it eventually. Sounds like works good. Thanks for instructions.

Re: Adding body side molding from Mar-K
Got my trim3M'd on. Overall it was pretty straight forward. Just one blip when my helper got over zealous and one piece stuck down crooked. Just used to fishing line to floss it off and start over.
I had inquired about the front spear a couple of post up. My trim set from Mar K came with hardware so I used the clip and drilled a hole. I used a cu tip to paint the hole. It was a bit loose at the joint end so I used 3M there. ( Sorry about the upside down. I flipped the iphone over this time and it still didn't work) |
