Amen, I say. I felt like a gong clanging in the wind on this one. Mine have been on the truck for ten years now without a problem. Way easier than the machine work on the Wagoneer drums.

Steve, If I have read the thread correctly, will these work on a '60 1/2 ton, if so I'll order a set and store them in case I need them and can always pass them onto a really desperate person if needed.

Thanks
Jake

The only mod that had to be done was I reamed out the lug holes with a cordless and twist bit to 9/16 to clear the lug shoulder. This took all of 5 minutes. These drums do appear much different than the stock GMC, they are finned and deeper. However these drums have a lip that actually extends over the backing plate negating the extra depth. The external cooling fins do not interfere with my stock rims. In 2016 these drums are available at auto zone, advance auto, and Napa. All 3 in my area would have to order them in w 2-3 day wait. I got mine at Napa, 2 days and 53$ each. I hope this helps to let people know that a suitable solution is widely available.

Re: Where to find GMC rear brake drums??

I just ordered a rear drum brake rebuild kit from www.earlyclassic.com for my '72 c10. They have kits for years '60-'72 5 lug and 6 lug. Their description for the kit says they only use GM and Raybestos parts. I haven't seen the parts yet, but I will today or tomorow depending on the weather. The kitsame include: wheel cylinders, shoes, drums, springs, adjusters, everything but the backing plates. All for about $240. I'm excited to replace my screeching rear brakes and my very old and abused wheel cylinders.lol.

Re: Where to find GMC rear brake drums??

I went with the NAPA 1972 K10 rear drum, 11x2", worked perfectly.
