Wiper motor to firewall seal confusion

Have I missed references in the shop manuals or the assembly manual this part, was it something that became a good idea afterwards and was never documented?

It goes between the motor and the firewall. The new ones are not as thick. The old ones were thick like a Doughnut.

I had bought one and forgot to install it since I didnt see it in the the manuals. It is kinda thin, do you use rtv between the seal and firewall?

It is thin compared to the older version but it is a better material that sets better than the original. I used no RTV and it hasn't leaked since I've put it in. It's been a year now and been through a lot of washes, rain and snow.
