How to remove GMC cab/door trim

Hey guys, do I found this GMC Custom in a junkyard and I want to buy the trim. I will have to remove it and I’m sure it’s rusty and stubborn as can be. I have never removed this kind of trim before and looking for some insight on how to remove the entire set and any tips you guys might be able to give.

It is held on by what I call spring clips on the backside, a trim removal tool would work. Guy removes a piece in the video below, but they do have the inner panel out which makes it easier to get to the backside.

This look like a pain to remove. Is there any trick to getting those trim pieces off with the inner panel in place?

The rust on the clips will give it some grip in the hole. A little spray lube sprayed under the trim at the clip will help. I would buy a cheap putty knife and cut a slot in the middle so the slot can go around the clip and pry carefully. I've seen that gmc trim sell for $200 per side. Can you see ANY of the clips from behind? If so push from behind like the video.

That’s crazy! I’m mostly getting this stuff to use as trade material.

I’ll give that a try! I’m an hour away from the truck and I didn’t have a ton of time to inspect the clips and mounting hardware the first time I was out there. Planning to go back Friday.

Re: How to remove GMC cab/door trim

Yeah I've seen the trim for sale that high as well. I got lucky and paid $200 for all of mine.

Also forgot to mention they should be bolted to the door in a couple spots.

That’s the plan... well if I can get it out I will. It’ll most likely have to go out through the windshield
