Finally found a ‘66 C10

I’ve been looking for a while now for a 64-66 swb, fleet w/ BBW. I found out right quick how hard they are to find these days!

Thanks to a friend who spotted this 66 for me on a back rural road. I caught the owner at just the right time. He said he usually never sells anything.

I have lots to do but it’s got a running later 350, ps, and ECE front disc conversion already.

The first 2 small things I’ve looked for I cannot find though. I need an original style Thrift heater fan/ temp control knob. I also need the knob and lever that switches heat/defrost under the dash on the box. My lever is broken off right where that knob would have slid onto.

It’s been repainted 20+ years ago, second time around patina! I plan on keeping it like this. I’d like some advice on just exactly how you guys would go about it though.

I do plan on replacing the rockers and cab support mounts. It’s just got to be done IMO. The other plans are 5 lug swap and a 3/5 lowered stance. Maybe American Racing Torq Thrust wheels or original style Steelies w/ original caps, maybe both and swap back and forth. Freshen up the V8, find some old patina barn wood for the bed and drive it.

I know we don't matter, but I'm glad you're going to try and keep the paint as is. It allows you to start enjoying the truck as is and do fixes & upgrades as you go.
I've never been able to find good threads here for preserving and matching existing paint, but there is another forum that's been recommended here some about DIY paint projects. I'll see if I can find it and post the link.

Great score...On paint, preserve what you have, wash off the crud, then you could try wet sanding some small area's....800-1200 grit see how you like it. then buff it. I bet it will be worth the effort.

If you do try to sand and buff an area, do it where you plan to patch or replace. Test in an inconspicuous area.

As a tenured owner of multiple OE paint/patina rides, I don't get the 'man-bun' reference.

Thanks guys, I would like to maybe replace these outside mirrors with the original style round ones on the stem. Who sells the best copy in stainless?

Try searching for some good original units if you can. While aftermarket stuff is sometimes necessary, the mirror set-ups leave something to desire.
