Suggestions?

Hey guys. I'm coming down the home stretch of fixing up my 1968 short bed stepside. Now that it's road ready, I've decided this tire/wheel combination are not quite right, not to mention fairly loud going down the road. I want a street tire for a smoother quieter ride. I want original-ish looking steel wheels with dog dish hubcaps. I was thinking 16 inch wheels. I don't think I want to go the 15 inch wheel route and I certainly don't want crazy 20 inch wheels. Should have plenty of sidewall too. I was thinking 16x8 all around. If I did 16 x 6 on the front would that look bad? 16 x 10 in the rear would probably be too much I think. This is just my weekend toy, not a daily driver. It does have a new engine in it so it's got a little pep. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

Re: Suggestions?

With info you mentioned,

I would buy tires for the rims you have.

Just My suggestion.

What lug pattern do you have?
That will help others that have suggestions on other rim options.

It looks good as is.
I understand the noise issue,
Some of those Mud-Grips are Loud

Re: Suggestions?

Good price but I'd rather not go with the 15's.

Re: Suggestions?

Worth considering. The chrome kinda clashes with my patina. I like the powder coated grey / silver look. Or white maybe. Who knows. I appreciate your thoughts though.

Re: Suggestions?

I also like the grey rally look and went with Vision 55 Rallies, 17x8 w/5x5" pattern. The rally caps came with them, but I got the stainless "police" centers and painted them white with a green bowtie for fun. The polished aluminum looks like the trim ring. I was going for the "he stole them off his brother's '69 SS Chevelle" look. Call me cheap or old fashioned, but I prefer to go with the same package on all four corners.

Re: Suggestions?

Before I I would settle on the rim size I would price out tires in the tire size and rim size. You might find out that 16 or 17" might be a lot more expensive.

Re: Suggestions?

FWIW, I went with Cooper Zeon RS3-G1 235/55R17. 16" & 17" are more common now, but still a very good idea to check the tire availability and cost when deciding on a wheel size.

I like the grey torq thrusters but they don't make them in a 6x5.5 lug
