Re: fuel injection
The search function in the banner is the best resource in this forum. Type in Fitech, hit the 67-72chevytrucks.com button and then the google button. You will find lots of great threads on this forum discussing it.

Re: fuel injection
I’ve had a FiTech system and the first generation FCC on my bone stock 350 in my 72, for about 2 years now.Works great, not exactly plug and play but even a novice can figure it out. Cold starts are incredible and drivability is remarkable.

Re: fuel injection
holley sniper is an alternative. Bigger name, possibly better support vs FI tech. I have the Holley sniper. No complaints.

Re: fuel injection
Didn't appear to change mine much (402). That's just from my impression. I didn't do a good job of before and after for mileage documenting.

Re: fuel injection
Any one know of a fuel injection system that will fit in the stock (in cab) tank?

Re: fuel injection
Any of them will since you don't need to go do anything with the tank at all if you don't want to. There are several different "kits" to get fuel.

Re: fuel injection
I have friend who worked in a "shop" who installed a couple early fitech FI kits, said both were problematic. No idea of the "shops" skills or problem shooting techniques so took that info with a grain of salt, however as support of what Ekliptix indicated, typically small companies don't have the engineering or customer service horsepower to support their products completely.
I do have personal experience with installation of a Holley Sniper EFI kit and have to say it was absolutely the best thing I have done to my truck from a drivability standpoint. Had numerous carbs on the truck with very poor results. The start and idle quality of the sniper is great, mileage went up from 13-14mpg to 18mpg as checked on a 2k+ mile trip. Another sniper is on my list of items for my 67 Nova build. Whichever system you choose, do a bunch of research, have a plan, take your time, read the instructions about 20 times, and don't short cut steps or it'll likely cause you grief. |

Re: fuel injection
question on the fuel pump. I know electric fp like to be gravity fed. If using the in-cab tank will it supply fuel OK to the pump even if you run out of gas and refill the tank?

Re: fuel injection
I once had a '72 that I installed a TPI engine. I used an external pump under the cab.
I never had a problem with the pump siphoning fuel from the tank but it would pick up air and howl anytime under 1/4 tank of fuel.

I read several threads about issues with the first gen FCC. I would hope FiTech has worked out all the issues with the latest version. There customer service has been excellent for me. They have helped me over the phone & answered my emails. I broke the handheld programmer and they sent a new one free of charge. original thread here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=688342&page=2

Re: fuel injection
I'm using the FiTech unit with a Edelbrock fuel sump fed by the mechanical fuel pump. It has been working great for me!

Re: fuel injection
A Facet 60106 will supply 4-7 PSI and lift 36", so they claim. I just ordered one. I had bought what I was led to believe a Carter P4070 but there are no markings except a different number on the box which took me to a copy-cat MIC pump. I'm sending it back. I'm going to use an Edelbrock sump to supply the higher pressure to the TBI.

Re: fuel injection
I modified a Tanks Inc GPA-2 pump to use in my factory in-cab tank to fuel my LS swap. Not finished yet, so don't know how well it is going to work. You have to cut a hole in the tank next to the original sending unit/pick-up.
