I just read your thread. Very nice. I love the roof lights I've got three on my truck.

Hey guys - another update. We pulled the interior apart so we could paint the interior and the upper white portion of the cab. It needed window seals and some pin holes sealed up. I’m putting it back to white for the 2-tone exterior. The interior will be black dash, black lowers on the doors, white pillars and roof. Black vinyl floor. Also wanted to paint the engine bay and trans tunnel before putting in the rebuilt 400sbc and rebuilt NV4500. Progress pictures to follow!

Pictures of the engine bay cleaned up, everything in primer, and the initial spray of white. Need to tape up all the white to spray black next.

Okay guys - busy thanksgiving week off from work - got a lot done. All interior white and black painted. Engine bay black painted. All windows rubbers and seals and felts replaced. PS…the windshield install took my dad and I 4 attempts and 10 hours to successfully get it in - brutal.
She got loaded up and sent out for some assistance. Still to happen this winter will be: 88 R20 suburban front end swap Power steering Power brakes with 4 wheel disc NV4500 400 sbc being rebuilt and put back in with serpentine system 14 bolt rear end with posi - between 4.10 or 3.73 for gearing - anyone have any good feedback? Looking like cruising RPM’s @70 between 2,100 and 2,300. As always - pictures to follow Posted via Mobile Device |

Wont fit right at the cowl end, sit too high. If cooling is your concern the best thing you can do is ensure your radiator is sealed between the front (grille side) and the back (engine side) and have a hood latch seal. Then use a fan cowl and fan clutch.

With my 14 bolt, 4.10's and 31.5 inch tall tires - about 2450 rpm at 65. Yours sounds about right with the taller tires. Regarding your windshield install. Did you have problems getting the gasket to fit or seat properly? What issues arose? The reason I'm asking is I have gaps between the gasket and windshield frame at the upper and lower corners on the passenger side. This is with new glass and gasket. I can't tell if it was installed incorrectly or poor quality windshield and/or gasket.

That windshield install was one of the hardest things I’ve done to date on the truck haha the gasket is pretty loose on the windshield so I used lots of tape, the chrome is the only thing that keeps it’s shape held, but even then it didn’t want to stay even remotely close. 3/4 attempts the gaskets and chrome all came off the window at the top corners. Even when finally installed and seated my chrome doesn’t sit very flush near the top corners. But the gasket itself is seated right the whole way inside and out. I hope this helps? Re: Hi Y'all - New Member, Old 8 Lug Restomod
My od gearing is .73. I have a two speed gear box (direct and od) between the engine and a granny 4 speed.
Here is a pic of the upper corner passenger side. Lower corner is the same.
