Rubber Mat flooring questions

I am ready to install my new Rubber mat flooring, My questions is when I remove the old rotted one (years ago) it had underlay under the rubber mat.

I ordered what I thought I needed but cant for the life me figure out what to do with what I received.

What I remember taking out: from the top down in layers

Rubber matting
white foam padding
Jute/carpet underlay
heavy tar like felt sound mat.

Can you tell me what order is the correct order from factory?

I have been getting info from one supplier that no under lay padding or sound felt was used. and the next supplier says the rubber floor kit comes with all the items I listed above.

Please help

Plan is to restore to factory.

Steven, it has been awhile since I last replaced mine and I had to search though old threads to find my info.
A little background, I bought my '72 in 1977 and I'm quite sure the flooring, as well as virtually the entire truck, was all original.

What I found was the white closed-cell foam pad laid down first, followed by a thick heavy tar-like layer, with the rubber floormat on top.
I had no jute/carpet underlay, and I wonder if that was for use under carpet, and had at some point been added to yours.

And of course the rubber floormat p/n 755279, $135. Specify high or low hump.

You are probably aware that replacement rubber mats don't last nearly as long as originals.

thanks for the reply. I wonder is at one point it came with carpet as well but if it did come with carpet original and later was changed to rubber floor mat. Would it not say on the glove box door with some code?

I have been going through more pics I took when doing demo and by all account I too see the white cell foam as layer one, then heavy sound deadner (tar paper) then jute and lastly the rubber floor mat. If the carpet was removed they would have had to remove the seat to do so right?

Yes, I *think* the SPID on the glove box door would indicate the type of floor covering..... but someone else will need to verify that.

So many things can be changed from original on these 50+ year old trucks. Hard to say if your jute came from the factory or was installed by a PO.
Anyway, yes, the seat has to come out to remove / install carpet or rubber mat.

I recently replaced the gas tank in my 1970 C10. While doing so, we removed the seat and while it was out I did a little cleaning and investigating. I am the third owner of my truck and it's pretty original. I'm sure the rubber floor mat has never been removed from the truck. I purchased a replacement rubber floor mat but haven't swapped it out because I haven't sourced all the underlayment materials.

Here are some pics I took while checking my floor. They show the original order of the materials. Top to bottom, rubber mat, tar paper, white foam sheet. Also, there was a die-cut piece of brown paper originally held down by some black strip caulk.

There are also some cardstock covered thick jute pads that are under the rubber mat at the front/firewall area. I don't have pics of that portion or those pads.

Guess I should have asked this question as well. I just finished putting the rubber mat in my truck. I put down the rubber pads then the jute padding then the rubber mat.

If the guy on the line added the jute pad by accident, he wouldn't take the time to remove it. He would just throw the pad on top. Maybe it was his first day on the job.
