Re: 14 bolt 6 lug from 90s Chevy...
The 90's 454SS trucks had the 14bolt SF in 5x5 pattern. Hard to find.
That rear end would likely be the narrowest of the late model/OBS 5-lug/2wd & 6-lug/4wd housings. It's 1.5" wider than the late 70 thru 87 rear housings.... Which are 1.5" wider vs. the 63-early 70 housings.

Re: 14 bolt 6 lug from 90s Chevy...
As SCOTI referred to a 14 bolt (9.5 ring gear) from a 90's SS454 --started out 5x5 but I made it 6 lug. In my 67 K10. A guy changed his out to a 9 bolt for greater gear selection for drag racing his SS454. My personal opinion is placing rear disc is not worth it. If already there --- great. I used a 1.5 " hub centric spacer on the rear axle to even up stance with the front and to ensure my 6 lugs were centered on the axle hub lip.

Re: 14 bolt 6 lug from 90s Chevy...
The 9.5" SF 14 BOLT is pretty tough... we've used them in Jeeps with 37"+ tires and beat on them pretty hard and they do live but the Gov Locks will break. Some later Chevrolet 2500 vans have a sexie DANA 60 with nice disc brakes from the factory 6 x5.5 pattern and lots
Of locker and gear ratio options..I've got one hoarded back for my 1987 V10 |

Thanks SCOTI, Dennis and 52napco.
great start to my search right here and removed alot of the guess work Dennis, did you shorten the axle tubes as well as move the spring perches? The hub centric ring is good to know. Truck looks great btw Last edited by GMC71k20; 02-03-2022 at 09:34 PM. |

No, I did not shorten the axle tubes. I relocated the spring perches and the shock mounts. I would purchase new perches and shock mounts - somewhat cheap.
