Ididit column steering wheel options.
Hi guys,
I just got my Ididit column and now need to decide on a wheel. I prefer the originals but that doesn’t seem to be in the cards. Ididit states that their columns are for 69 and newer gm wheels. So for those that have done this swap what did you use? Thanks for any input, Bob. |

Re: Ididit column steering wheel options.
I haven't messed with the Ididit columns, but other fellers here have.
Check out this link: https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...ghlight=Ididit

The retro line of Ididit allows you to use your original steering wheel.

Re: Ididit column steering wheel options.
Odd, I have a retrofit column and called Ididit. Per their tech people the column is designed for 69’ and newer gm wheels. They stated that I might get lucky and an earlier wheel would work but it wasn’t all that likely that I wouldn’t end up with a large gap between the wheel and column. Evidently the taper on the shaft below the splines is different post 68’. Sure enough mine had an unsightly 1/2” gap when mounted.

Re: Ididit column steering wheel options.
I just went up and double checked, my original wheel does fit the retro line column.
You will need to buy the wheel adapter kit to fill in the gap between the wheel and column. YouTube Installation Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVRJrvkPATU&t=424s Last edited by 61hawk; 05-15-2022 at 10:59 AM. |

The splines are the same. I used my deluxe steering wheel (58-61 Biscayne, El Camino, etc.)
