I'm running a Crane Cam 260H on my '68 C/10 Stepside -- not especially lumpy, but not stock. At operating temp [180*], 40 PSI Oil Pressure, 700 RPM idle, my Vacuum reads 17.5" Hg. I have stock manual brakes -- same 2'' drums all-around -- and it stops fine when they're in good order.
But if I were building another L25 for a bigger, heavier bodied rig like a 4WD '67 Suburban, I might want power brakes.* Also upgrading the front Dana 44 for a '71-'72 D44 would give me the options of Power Disc Brakes and Power Steering. If it had P/S, Hydroboost might be the option.
*The '67 K/10's stock vintage brakes sucked. [DANGER -- SELECT ALTERNATE TARGET]
If one is contemplating a HiPerf 292 build with Lump Port head work, the budget is already astronomical. Like NASA.
