1963 Wiring Diagram

I'm a new member and a new owner of a 63 GMC 1500 long bed. It was owned by a farmer for years and the wiring had been "rigged" a hundred different ways. Fortunately, the truck arrived with the original owner's manual. As I read through it, I was amazed that they actually included information for performing maintenance, unlike today's vehicle manuals that treat owners like idiots and want them to bring their vehicle in to an authorized $$ service center. Anyway, there was a nice wiring diagram in the back of the manual, but it was small and not color-coded. I'm a graphic designer by trade, so I took the time to recreate the diagram in color and wanted to share it. This is a smaller version due to the file size constraints on the site, but I do have a much larger version available for poster-sized printing. Just send me an email address and I'll send it to you (I promise, no spam).

Does anyone know how close this is to 1964?

Evryone please also realize that this is for the GMC not Chevy, so there are some differences. But you have done a great job on it.

Re: 1963 Wiring Diagram

Think you could do the 63 chevy if I sent you black & white copies? I have the factory guages not the warning light cluster in the dash?

Re: 1963 Wiring Diagram

About attention to detail...thanks, but having taken a minute to go over it, I did find a couple of minor corrections to make, nothing earth-shattering, but I would like it to be as correct as possible. I've attached the updated version, so please Let me know if you see anything questionable. I've been asked to make one for the Chevy folks as well, so expect that after the new year.

Hi there, this is great as it is helping me greatly to understand the wiring system. I had a question about the coding. When a wire is marked as "6-BK-BATT" or "20-DGR-28", what do the numbers signify?

My understanding is:

"6-BK-BATT" means 6 gauge wire, Black color, coming from battery
"20-DGR-28" means 20 gauge wire, Dark Green color, what does 28 mean?

Thank you for any help.
