Alternator / Generator Date ?

I just received the NOS Generator for my 80 Jimmy and have a question about the date stamped in the housing. The part number is correct for my application but the date looks to have an extra number at the beginning. Was expecting number / letter / number, number. Not this. Any ideas?

Re: Alternator / Generator Date ?

Am I read this wright, 95j29 would that be 1995 June or July 29 If that right then this have been renewed/ refinished. It was a factory case since casing# still on it must be the first refinish, some places sand off the casing# put on some extra ad to it or their own. Some do not but after the second or third time they come off if they still have them when sandblasting take place.

Re: Alternator / Generator Date ?

Looks like what was already posted except the month. J is for September, July would be a 'G'. year/month/day, so looks to be 1995 Sept 29.
