Re: interesting back hatch
I knew this would be the blazer when I read the title. I am presently looking at this and have asked if anyone is local that would be willing to check it out? It is the first I have ever seen like that? I am interested how the latch works and what is used for support arms. With that being said if I ended up with it the top wouldn't be on it much anyway.

Re: interesting back hatch
Not a fan at all. In the first picture it just looks like the hatch is straight up MIA. Reminds me of a lincoln navigator rear window/hatch which i always found hideous.
But...To each their own. |

I have a thread looking for someone in the area asking if they will inspect it for me so far no takers. I really want a 2 wheel drive Blazer with air (and the 1968 clip is a big plus for me) but it seems the few I find are in California or Arizona. I have added muscle cars to my search now and am also looking at GTOs and Challenger convertibles with AC. I know I will regret NOT getting a Blazer and one will show up the day after I purchase something?

Re: interesting back hatch
Interesting... I posted this as a question several years ago, I’m glad someone tried it. I actually kind of like it, but it doesn’t flow with the side windows very well. But it probably works as well or better than original. Might look better if they also did a flush mount on the side glass too.

Re: interesting back hatch
Makes me wonder if you could get a hatch off of a truck topper and modify it to fit. Might be an alternative for someone not wanting to spend $1000+ on an original hatch.

Re: interesting back hatch
Definitely different. I would have to be at least paint the hinges black and darkest tint allowed.

Re: interesting back hatch
If I were to buy it the top would never be on. I would probably install a soft top for Just in case but its top off for me!

Re: interesting back hatch
The problem I see with it is that I rely a bit on my original hatch latching system to hold the shape of the top when I used to remove it. It has been a long time but in California that thing came off every year in the summer.

Re: interesting back hatch
I haven't installed my hard top since I bought my Softopper. It's at least as good as my hard top at keeping the wet out. And you're right, the natural condition for a Blazer is with the top off. The Softopper is only to keep me warm and dry when absolutely necessary.
