Steering column turn signal wiring

Hey guys I have a motion raceworks column in my truck. I’m attempting to get the turn signals and brake lights working using a grote turn signal switch so I can get this thing on the road. I’ve gotten all the turn signals to work however when I hook up the hot brake wire, the brake lights illuminate and don’t turn off. I am using the white wire from the column harness to the hot brake wire on the switch. Does anyone know a workaround for this? Wiring isn’t my thing lol

I think you will need to get a multimeter or test probe out and make wiring your thing at least for today.

Brake wire should go from fuse panel to brake pedal switch with voltage that is on all the time the battery is connected. Then from the other terminal on the brake pedal switch the voltage should be on only when the brake pedal is pressed. Then it goes into the turn signal switch to be routed out to the tail lights when both right and left turn signal positions are not active (turn signal switch is in the middle position).

Let us know what you find out about the voltages present at those points.
