Anyone ever lower 4x4?
I always wanted to lower a 4x4 Blazer down to car height. Anyone have a clue how to do this? I figured I could get a good handling vehicle I could drive in the snow. What do you all think? Beats an Audi or Subaru.

Umm... You cant lower it really the front axle would'nt have clearence to operate

I can second that.....very hard to lower the fromt of a 4wd...........you can try removing that thick short 3rd leaf in the front, or take the leafs out and to a spring shop, and for $50 or so they will de-arch them for you, but you can only go maybe 1.5" lower (if that) from a stock 2 leaf non-hd setup. rear is a snap to lower......but you gotta get the front down 1st!

I guess if and when I get to do it I will have to fabricate evrything myself. Maybe it will be my final for my apprenticeship. |

If it is a leaf spring setup, there isn't enough room to drop it anything more than about 2".

Yeah, that's it. When I meant lower a 4x4 I figured it wouldn't be a convential drop. I will have to research it a lot, but I will get it done sometime in the future. All part of my master plan. 3 vehicles for life. 2wd p/u, AWD blazer lowered, and a G-machine. No other vehicles besides my bikes. FOR LIFE! I will be 80-something and still driving those bad boys.
Think about it, if you never had to buy any more vehicles? Save lots of money and drive a cool old vehicle forever. I have one bike in my collection. I have the 70' SWB 2wd that I am going to restore, then I will get the blazer. |
