paint color question engine compartment
when you get ready to do up an engine compartment on one of our trucks and youre going with chrome engine pieces like valve covers and air cleaner etc what color do you paint the painted part of the inner fenders and the firewall? body exterior color? black? another color?

I think firewalls and the fenders look best body color and inner fenders look best gloss black...this is how mine will be and how GM did it when the trucks were new (except GM made the inners satin black).
I have seen some black firewalls, and they don't look too bad, but IMO you need a real nice detailed engine to make it look "right"...if you don't, then it looks slapped together.

I undercoated the firewall in my 73 when I did it. The yellow paint helped it to stand out, and it also covered up the nasty original green. The inside of the fenders were body color, and I used grey zolotone (trunk paint) on the fender wells and heater box. It looked very nice, and I think the Blazer will get the same treatment someday.
