Re: I'm one of you guys now
Yeah I bought a new contact piece that is in the column. Put the wheel on, and snap! I grabbed on from the salvage though. So that should fix it.
I have the horn button for Scott's wheel. I also have the stock one that I took off. |

Re: I'm one of you guys now
Do they really need to be much brighter then what they're at now? I upgraded my bulbs....painted the back of my cluster white last week too. I got hammered at a party last weekend so my wife had to drive home....Thats when I noticed that she was also glowing from the bright ass gauges.

To each their own really. I think it's mainly for the look of brighter gauges. Some like it some don't

Re: I'm one of you guys now
well, bad news...the tach doesn't work...got the needles all replaced and the tach hooked up. It resets to zero when the ignition is turned on, but when you start the truck the tach jumps to 5000, then if you rev it up it pegs. I'm thinking maybe this tach is from a 6 cylinder truck...anybody have any ideas?
John, did you happen to notice what engine was in the truck you pulled it from?

Re: I'm one of you guys now
I don't think they put the tachs in the 6 cylinder trucks. It was in that crewcab truck. The SPID sheet said it had a 454 in it, but they wrote on the windshield that it had a 305 in it. Guess the search is on for another one huh?

Re: I'm one of you guys now
yeah,
dunno I read somewhere to make sure you get a tach from a V8, not a six or it will have to be re-calibrated......time to look for another one or someone who repairs them....but it sure looks cool in there

Re: I'm one of you guys now
Yeah I've heard that too, but I have never heard of a 6 cyl square body having a tach. So I would assume that it should be in a V8. That and the truck it came out of would never have had a V6 in it!
I think there was a place in OKC that did speedometer repair. I'll see if I can find them again. |

Re: I'm one of you guys now
well i talked to my neighbor last night and he said his father inlaw would sell them as whole clusters. the way he was talking the needles must be made out of gold or something. so the good neighbor deal is out the door! sorry guys... i'll find out for sure tonight when he gets home. and i'll keep my eyes peeled at pick n pull too.

Re: I'm one of you guys now
and this guy knows it too. he's built a few square bodies. but come on... he's talking $100 a piece. that to me is kind of ridiculous.

Yeah that seems kind of high, but I guess if you want one bad enough. I don't though!
