When you paint your truck in a primer do you clear coat it? I had heard that primer alone is not enough protection.

I am wanting to paint my truck a flat red or matte red.....something along those lines.

The primers that people use are usually not clear coated. Some use the epoxy primer which, from what I understand is fairly weather resistant.

Others use a flattening agent in the clear over a regular coat of paint, whether it be base coat or regular automotive paints.

The Blitz Black guys use has no clear coat as it doesn't need one.

That's the info I've gathered from my searching on this ...
