Re: Lets see those BUDDY BUCKETS!!!!!!!
That's some great work, Pat. I wonder why only one seat [Drivers ?] tilts forward. I know '67 and Early '68 bench seats tilted forward.
[I used to sling a .30-30 in a scabbard bunjied to the back springs behind my seat when I was Active Duty.] A Blazer needs the Passenger seat to hinge forward [whole seat, or just the backrest] for riders to access the back seat. I suppose with a Panel Truck, one could access near-forward items from a front door, without having to rummage the way forward from the rear barn doors. Suburbans have a third passenger side door. Buddy Buckets wouldn't really work on a K/5, since you already have a center console. But don't try to sit on the plastic console, unless you're a skinny grade schooler.

Re: Lets see those BUDDY BUCKETS!!!!!!!
That is a great question. Both this set and the set I traded for it had only one tilting seat. In both cases, the tilting seat was on the driver side. It might make more sense to put the tilting seat on the passenger side to improve access to the jack and accessories. I would have a heck of a time getting to that stuff right now. I'd probably have to reach behind the passenger seat from the driver side.

Re: Lets see those BUDDY BUCKETS!!!!!!!
I have 2 sets. One set does not have a tilting seat while both seats tilt on the other set. Never had a set where only one seat was a tilt. Interesting...

Re: Lets see those BUDDY BUCKETS!!!!!!!
Interesting, indeed. Maybe mine got mismatched at some point. They both still had the original upholstery on them, and the upholstery was the same style on both seats. I took a closer look at the photos I took of the original foam, and the upper foam is different on the two seats. The folding seat has ridges along the bolsters, whereas the rigid seat is smooth. Also the folding seat foam has GM-22 molded into it. These two seats must be mismatched.

That really looks sharp, Pat.
Whatever possessed you to blackout the B-Pillars, upper door frames and windshield bow? It's different, I'll grant you. Is your Orange Stepside's new nickname ''Rocky Raccoon''?

That was done by a previous owner. I'm not particularly fond of it. I'll likely repaint it orange at some point.

It looks allright, and matches the black interior and seats. That would not be a good color choice for someone [like me] living in the SW Desert where Solar Radiation is amplified to a viscious level.

Re: Lets see those BUDDY BUCKETS!!!!!!!
Looking for anyone that has a good photo of the Buddy Seat "inboard seat belt retainer" installed on their truck. I have never seen one, only in the assembly manual. Does it exist???
Would love to get ahold of item #7 #8. Anyone???? |

Re: Lets see those BUDDY BUCKETS!!!!!!!
I have an NOS set going on my buddies as soon as I get them reupholstered. I had a set in a truck years ago that had them mounted, and posted pics back then. That thread is probably over 10 years old and buried way back.

Then make two sheet metal hat brackets to adapt them to the existing holes in the buddy bucket console and stand them out past the lid. I opted to mount cup holders instead using these existing holes in the buddy bucket console.

These retainers came with trucks that had shoulder seat belts. Truck retainers are not solid if I remember correctly. The car version is

Re: Lets see those BUDDY BUCKETS!!!!!!!
Interesting, right at the bottom of this thread people are talking about these "stow" things for the buddy bucket set belts. But the parts shown don't seem correct or at least only 1/2 correct?
From the truck's assembly manual the two are different - one for female to "click" in and the then male to "slide" in? Or am I looking at the assembly manual wrong?

Re: Lets see those BUDDY BUCKETS!!!!!!!
So the strap isn't sown into the seat back but velcros to the seat back. Then it is screwed into the back of the cab?
Could I have some measurements of the strap / placement of the screw on the cab? I'd like to come up with a strap to get this into place on my truck. Silly me I started a post about this here: Buddy Bucket Center Seat Strap Measurements / Photo

Re: Lets see those BUDDY BUCKETS!!!!!!!
I count myself lucky the PO reupholstered & installed the buddy buckets in my 72. Considering what it costs to acquire & restore these, it was about 15% of what I bought my truck for!

Re: Lets see those BUDDY BUCKETS!!!!!!!
I was looking at the Slosh Tubz option too and it's 1500 just for the frame. Which isn't a bad deal but then you have to get it upholstered too after that.
