Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
I found some pictures of the truck that my friend took when he got the truck, and scanned them in. Rough guess they were taken 13 years or so ago. Check out the nice carpet in there!!

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
Now comes the fun of finding the mounts for it. If you have any problems...hit up Markeb...hes the resident expert in my opinion. Helped me through my install.

This is what the mounts will look like. I believe that Bob at Accessoryland can help with them if you dont have them.

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
As far as I know the handle to the right of the glove box is not original. Seems like a good place for one though! LOL It was not in there when I got the truck, so my buddy must have taken it out.
The only spotlights I have seen were mounted either low like mine, or straight out the top if the roof. Unity is still up and running. http://www.unityusa.com/ I am still planning on the flatbed at this point. I cannot fit the truck in my garage if I had the full bed on it. Someone at some point chopped the back of my frame off right after the rear spring hangers. I found some cool pictures of '60-'66 4x4's with flatbeds going through the 4x4 threads. I am still at work now, or I would post a few of my favorites. I'll be here for a couple more hours at least, then I get to do it again at 4am. Lots and lots of |

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
Or were you asking about the plugs to the left of the glovebox? If you were asking about those, I don't think anyone knows for sure what they were for. I haven't been able to find an answer about them on here. It's another GMC mystery. I don't think the Chevys have them.

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
no i was talking about the holes to the right i swear i seen holes in mine but looking at some pics of my dash there not lol i def want to install one there tho everybody always complains that there's nothing for them to hold onto in my 64 lol and those plugs seem to just be extra holes for switches or something i like your knob on the glove box to those things are a pain in the ass to open i wouldnt mind trying to up date it to one like in my 64 there a ton better

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
I was thinking about putting a handle back there for the same reason. LOL
The knob on the glovebox is just a wooden cabinet knob. Whatever works right. It looks good, and has been on there since before either my buddy or I had the truck. The dash is how the GMC's came. The rest of the interior is silver, and the top of the dash is charcoal, according to what I have read. It doesn't look like the holes by your visor are big enough for a spotlight from that picture. Do they go all the way through? Maybe an antenna wire? I didn't notice your awesome carpet too! LOL Not quite a cool as what was in mine though! LOL |

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside

I knew there was a specific thread for factory spotlight locations.
MarkB01 started this thread. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=401449 He has a '60 GMC also, his is only 2wd though. |

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
I have been waiting for a big run of plans to finish printing, so I was looking through the 4x4 thread, and found the flatbed that I liked.
Not exactly what I was thinking, but something along these lines. I would extend the front of the bed up and over the cab as a headache rack, but follow the lines of the cab on the way up. Does anyone happen to know anything more about this truck? Special-K posted it back in 2008, so I'm not going to hold my breath, but it is worth a shot! Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
And a few more.
My son started drooling when he saw this one. LOL The last one here, I caught as I was scrolling by. J.Kirn's 1960 Chevy has the 4wd shifter on the right of the main shifter... I will send him a message, and see if he knows anything about why his and mine are on the right. |

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
Theoretically, the gasket for the Front Dana 44 and the rear should be the same right? None of the parts stores I have talked to show a gasket for the front diff. They all specify rear. I haven't looked at the online retailers yet, just figured I would ask here too.
I was wanting to open up the diff covers this weekend to verify that when they replaced the rear axle, they matched the front gears. Any suggestions for putting them back together without having leaks? |

No gasket at all Kro? I have heard of people doing that, but didn't know anyone personally that has done it.

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
yeah no gasket at all just get a nice level of silicon on both sides get it up there and just get it snug i mean just a little more then finger tight all the way around you dont want to smash out all your silicon and when it drys some tighten everything up and you should be good to go

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
This should be ok to post in my thread.
My friend entered into a contest at the local Harley store where he can win a free training endorsement class, a free helmet, jacket, gloves and boots. He has been down a rough road for a few years, and is finally getting his life straightened out, and saving for his dream bike. This would help him out tremendously! He didn't even know he was in the finalists until earlier today, and the voting ends on the 14th. I try to help out the other people on here who post their contest entries, so hopefully some of that good Karma will help my buddy out! If you have a Facebook account, you can "Like" the Harley shop, and then vote. After that I'm sure you can "Unlike" them. Maybe wait a couple of days if you can though. https://www.facebook.com/highdeserth...42144182495596 His name is Jeremy, and he is near the bottom of the list. I thank you, and I know he would too! |

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside
Thanks Kro! I bought a gasket for the rear, and haven't been home enough to check and see if it matches the front too.
Maybe I'll return it, and just go your route! |
