Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer
We went to SE Idaho to visit my inlaws. St. Anthony and Idaho Falls area. We went through the NE Yellowstone entrance via Cody and Cooke City on the way west. Then on the way back east we went through Jackson Hole, then Casper and north to Gillette, which is kind of a halfway point. We have been going back and forth through the dakotas for 25 years now because my wife is from out there and I'm from MN. I think I've driven nearly all possible routes between the 2 just for a change of scenery or to find a faster way. There is no easy route across northern Wyoming.

Hey Tony, did you get my message on facebook?
The Blazer is back at the farm. I think he's been using it to check fences, and to round up cattle!

Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer
Amazing details to this restoration. Couple things I noticed that were different from what I have seen before though. First, I though the horn was normally mounted more inboard by the radiator, just below where the ground wire is bolted on. Second, I don't think I've ever seen that oil fill tube before on these trucks. The the HEI dizzy is a good upgrade, but kind of surprised you didn't go with an original style distributor with the electronic conversion to keep the OEM look. These pics are pretty much a good guide for how it should be put together though for a restoration. Outstanding job.
Where did you get that braided wire covering for the engine temp sensor? And the GM hoses? I need to get black hoses for my heater, never liked the way the red ones look. I liked the way you wrapped up the wires to the ends of the wire channel across the rad support. Nice details man.

Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer
Tony...it usually takes me between 1 1/2-2 hours to post pics. That is why it is sometimes hard to find the time.
Hgs...on a dual horn truck, the second horn goes where the one pictured is. In my travels I have found that the base model trucks, only had one horn, and the CST trucks got the dual horns. I have since moved the horn over to the single horn spot. The HEI had been swapped sometime in the past. We discussed going to a point dist. with a pertronix, but decided to just run the HEI, since they work so nice, and it is hard to notice behind the air cleaner. We figured most people wouldn't catch it anyway. I think everybody has the GM heater hose. I will have to go through my receipts to see where I got the wire loom cover. Thanks for looking guys!

Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer
Looks great! Might want to set up an offsite acct to load the pictures to then simply link here....will make things a lot faster....I'm having comp as well as camera issues right now so using my phone for all of it...but normally downloading pictures online you can type up what you want to say as they download then insert the link to the picture between the typing....saves a bunch of time!

Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer
The engine harness I bought for my Blazer had that same covering on temp/starter/distributor wiring already, can't recall who made it though.

Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer
All I gotta say is WOW, there is a ton of great quality work here. You do some great fab work man! You took a rust bucket and now it looks like it is from the 70s brand new!
Awesome! I at least want to get my frame looking like yours.

Re: New life for an old 2wd, farm Blazer
This harness came with the ends tied, and the temp wire covered in cloth. I did buy a piece of the cloth covering for the a/c wire. The oil fill tube is original.
I have always wondered how some people can post comments under each pic. I'll have to investigate the off-site photo posting thing. Here are a few pics of the hood and some misc. pieces.
