i'm not real sure to be honest but i think i will come down another inch in the rear to level it off more. i like it a little higher in the back but not too high. to me perfect stance is just a kick above level in the rear.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

MADE SPACE.........

Slightly Off Thread....... but Hey Ho.

Well, two lots of plates landed this week.

First was an unexpected parcel from Bret in Texas, included three Australian plates (Never been able to get any, despite some promises) and a disabled veterans plate. This fits into my narrowed down collecting of Military, DV, Govt etc plates.

Also included was a hand made wooden Rocketship mkVI for my wife, which has her squealing with glee.

Stickers from his collection, for my collection.

Rocketship in place.

Note my special Sheriffs badge

The second parcel was a trade I did with Ben.

Unfortunately the UK Customs will rape you for every penny possible.

Unknowingly the value was made out to be $25.00 on the customs declaration which then attracted £13.61 ($21.40) in duty and handling fees.
We all know the real value of these plates are cents, most of the value to me is inherent and emotional........ so getting bummed by the government angers me.

Still, I have a load of awesome plates and just want this rant to make you guys aware that you need to really value the plates you put into international post at $1.00 each.

Cool plates that all fit into my collecting.

The last two weeks I have been buying in the stuff I need for the bodywork.

Last week my Ebay account reverted to my old address which I vacated more than 4 years ago...... WTF???

No idea how that happens, as I had deleted the old address 4 years ago.

So Yodel (less said the better) returned my items, some I found at the old address when Derek my old neighbour called me to say stuff had been delivered.

So I re-ordered and paid delivery again.

All items now accounted for.

Included a small bodywork hammer set.

Pile growing.

Tonight after work I went back into the garage for the first time in a week.
Re-welded a wheel mounting on my compressor that Martin and I managed to break off when manhandling it into his van last week.
First time I used the Argon/CO2 gas I fitted recently, works differently, seems to be an improvement.

So next up I need to move the truck out and fit the walls for the "Paint Booth"

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

I got my dome light to work. Which was a trick, because the wires were cut in 2 places. The cool part was that I got to teach my 6 year old exactly how to trace wires, and what a test light will do and what continuity is. I picked him up from school today and he wants to get door jam switches so he can hook them up!

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

Perfect decoration for the garage, from Halloween a few years ago, Nicola found it on a sale for 50p

On Sunday I eventually got around to a job I have been putting off for some time, for various reasons, most of them just being logistics.

I got the "walls" of the "spray booth" months ago from the local Catering company yard before they set fire to them.

I decided to build a small recess into which my tall drill press/pillar drill would fit, and then to also offset the rest of the wall by another 300mm or 12 inches to give me maximum working space for when I do the bodywork on the truck, as well as the paint.

One of the things I cannot do alone, is to manage 8 and 9 foot long sheets of wood, so I asked Ian who is living with us to come down to the garage to help me a couple of times.

frame in place and first sheet in place

Another long sheet, problem is they have metal in them that needs to be avoided, so a helping hand is needed.

When screwing the connecting strips between the sheets, two hands each side are ideal, so I allowed Ian access to the tools.

Carried on till about 10.00pm on Sunday evening.

And this was where I ended play on Sunday evening.

Door to be created and hung, as well as some more reinforcing between the sections and closing small gaps

Door hung, gaps sorted.........

Truck back inside the space. Now there is space enough on both sides.

On annual leave from Friday, so can start dismantling the truck, first job is removing all the stickers, toolbox etc.....

That is all for now.

Thanks for looking in guys.

PS: Help, advice and visits welcome between 19th and 4th January.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

Today I scored a great find. Went to a local classic yard and found a "2bbl" original 1964 air cleaner for 20 bucks. All it needs is a little cleaning. No rust what so ever. And of course a new air filter. It was a good day!!

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

I have not cleaned it up yet but the best 20 bucks I have spent on this truck so far. It does have a little surface rust but nothing a little sand paper and paint wont cure. It should look like new when done.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

Another day, another bit of progress.

Last night I cut in with a brush and did a coat of rollered white Crown paint to get a more reflective, white surface on the walls.

Today was my last work day for the year. (helps to save your leave up)
So, after doing expenses, clock cards etc, I popped down to the garage, pushed the truck out and did the second coat of white..... GOOD IDEA.

I now need to find two more strip lights to fit to the side wall for when I am working on the body.

Pleased with the results so far.

Truck back in.

Once you put it back in place, you realize just how big this red thing is.......

Tomorrow I will be helping the decorator in the house, along with starting to remove all the stickers, the little trim clips down the sides and also the big toolbox in the rear.

Friday evening Martin and I are going over to Russell the paralyzed Fireman's place to modify all his furniture so that he can actually use it more effectively.

Saturday morning will be Honey-Do's and in the afternoon Martin may be over to help me get the scaffolding frame made up in front of the garage. Still need to get hold of a large tarpaulin to go over it all.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

I taught my truck a lesson today! Apparently it's NOT a good idea to throw a wrench when things aren't going well while you're working on it. Since I need to remove the door glass I guess it's a good time to install my power window setup I bought several years ago. The good - tempered side door glass in smoke is about $50.00 each.
